As we see a surge of Covid 19 cases in our mountains people are rethinking putting off getting the vaccine.  Many people have voiced concern over receiving the vaccine. One reason was that it was new and untested.  That reason is becoming less and less factual as millions of vaccines have been delivered without incident.  According to the CDC website, millions of people in the United States have received COVID-19 vaccines under the most intense safety monitoring in U.S. history.  There are always slight risks and the decision has to be personal.  It is a personal choice and there should be no vaccine shaming however, the reality is the issue is dividing our community as well as communities around the country.

Schools are about to start back up with in-person learning, there is a risk of the greater spread of the disease.  Children under 12 can not yet get the vaccine and will be in groups of their peers.  The only way to control that spread, according to the CDC, is to offer the vaccine to as many adults who surround those children.

That is in part the reason the SLV Rotary has set up VAX.  A clinic here in Boulder Creek.

The press release sent out by Justin Acton of the SLV Rotary state the following:

On August 7th and August 21st, SLV Rotary is once again partnering with the Santa Cruz County Public Health Agency, Boulder Creek Business Association, and Liberty Bank to setup clinics providing COVID-19 vaccinations to anyone 12 and older in our community.

Both one shot and two-dose vaccines will be available at Liberty Bank, 13233 HWY 9, Boulder Creek.

These Vax the Valley clinics are 100% free and no appointment is needed.  There are free rides provided by Rotarians to local residents who call 408-315-3056

As a friendly reminder, this clinic is timed to provide the second dose of Pfizer to those who came to our first clinic.

This clinic is following two very successful clinics which happened on both July 31st and August 7th.  Between these two events, the community was able to receive over 109 vaccinations.

For questions, please contact SLV Rotary at 408-315-3056.
