Remembering Ed Davenport: 11/10/1940-2/10/2019
It is with a heavy heart that the family of Ed Davenport announces his passing on February 10th 2019. Ed passed as he wished, surrounded by family in his own home.
Ed lived in the San Lorenzo Valley for over 45 years. He moved to the San Lorenzo Woods, 5 miles north of Boulder Creek, with the love of his life, Joleen, and her boys in 1973 and resided in the “woods” until his passing. He was involved with every committee possible in the neighborhood, always working to keep the neighborhood a family-type environment. He loved his community, helping those in need both individually and by volunteering at organizations such as Valley Churches. Ed was a steward of the earth, volunteering or donating to over 40 charitable organizations, a staunch recycler/composter, a lover of nature, being one of the best Horticulturist’s around, a lifelong fan of the A’s and Giants and former Go-Kart racer. Ed’s love for Roses, Street Violets and wine were unmatched. For those that were able to enjoy any of those with him, you were very blessed.
Ed is preceded in death by his mother Neviue, his father Edgar, and wife Joleen. Ed leaves his children, Michael, Mark, and Teena Davenport, Michael, Mark, and Matthew Sheldon, Daughtersin-Law Kellie, Amy and Cindi, eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, brothers Darrell, Dick, and Larry, Sister Betsy, numerous nieces and nephews, and too many friends to count. Ed requested that a celebration of his life be held after summer; an informal service was held at the Boulder Creek Recreation Hall on Saturday, August 31st.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Ed please donate to Valley Churches or to any Earth conscious organization.
