The Boulder Creek Fire Protection District announced in August the hiring of the new Fire Chief, Mark Bingham. Chief Bingham started with the Boulder Creek Fire Protection District in 1998. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2005 and Captain in 2007. Additionally he worked two fire seasons with CAL Fire and has worked at NASA Ames Fire Department for the last 18 years. Chief Bingham will be replacing retiring Fire Chief Kevin McClish who is set to retire November 1, 2019.
THE BOULDER CREEK VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT was formed in 1892 and the Boulder Creek Fire Protection District established in 1923. The District is guided by a five-person Board of Directors. The District covers 21 square miles of mountainous terrain and serves approximately 15,000 citizens. The District has 40 dedicated volunteers who provide the same level of service as a paid fire department. These firefighters responded to over 1,100 calls for emergency service last year.
