Just a shout out (literally) to all you fellow 8:00 PM howlers.

In case you haven’t heard for yourself or you’re wondering what’s up with the howling each night? It’s really pretty simple. It’s just a way for us to stay connected as we shelter in place. Adults, kids, dogs and even gobbling wild turkeys all seem to be joining in the fun.

It gets louder and louder each evening as the word is spreading across the Santa Cruz Mountains. We may not be talking about it while out on the town but we sure are talking about it on Facebook, Instagram and Nextdoor, our community social networking news feed, As one Ben Lomond resident commented, “Even though we cannot hug each other, howling feels like a verbal hug.”And as another resident from Glen Arbor commented, “I howl most nights but some nights I like to sit back and listen. We are all in this together.”

It warms my heart and chokes me up to hear you. So c’mon set your alarm and join in and let ‘er rip. Let’s keep it growing.
