I am pretty appalled at what is happening in our country right now. I feel that critical thinking is in short supply and we are letting our emotions take control of our minds. I find the chaos, violence, and sheer lack of decency disturbing. We cannot bring out the best in other people (like the police) by giving them our worst.
A Better Place
The way we express ourselves, work through a crisis, honor a life, and fight injustice is through the arts and whatever talents and passions we have been given. That’s why we have them, for times like this. Those who can draw can pay tribute by starting a mural. Those who can play music should do just that—or sing, as many protesters did. How different protests would have been if musicians had come out in droves. Someone like me who loves to garden and beautify things is doing that in our community. Whatever we do, it should be to build people and communities up and make our world a better place. Those are the things that bring about healing.
It’s time we started a wave of love and connectedness, and it starts with us. Every action has a ripple effect, and it’s also time we examine ourselves and let go of any hatred we have toward ANYONE! It’s absolutely freeing to realize we are all individuals created in God’s image, we all deserve a chance, and we all deserve each other’s grace.
In a Dangerous Time
Gathering together in droves right now, in the middle of a pandemic, is dangerous. It’s important to take care of ourselves.
Taking Ashwagandha and Holy Basil can help relax and diminish anxiety. B vitamins can help o
ur mood and energy levels. Take melatonin if you’re having trouble sleeping: It’s a great antioxidant, and it’s important to sleep well to feel our best. Green tea during the day is good for energy, it’s naturally antiviral, it has mood enhancing L-theanine, and plenty of antioxidants to keep us young. A soothing tea is really nice and, of course, getting out in nature helps to ground us.
Please stay well and positive. If not for yourself, for the others around you, let’s give them our best!
