Temperature Breaks and Possible Light Rain on the Horizon
As the heat wave subsides, the residents of the Santa Cruz Mountains can look forward to a gradual cooling trend this week. The National Weather Service has downgraded the Excessive Heat Warnings to Heat Advisories across the interior and the San Francisco Bay Area, including San Francisco. The Heat Advisories along the coast are no longer in effect.
Today, temperatures are expected to range from the 90s to near 100 inland, 80s to lower 90s along the Bay Shoreline, and 60s to around 80 along the coast. Most areas will experience a moderate Heat Risk, with isolated major Heat Risk in the interior East Bay and the highest elevations of the Santa Cruz Mountains and North Bay Mountains above 2,000 feet.
As we move into the latter part of the week, there is a slight potential for light rain in the Bay Area, with higher chances for areas further north. This comes as a welcome relief after the prolonged heat wave that has gripped the region.
Residents are advised to continue taking precautions against the lingering heat, such as staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day, and seeking shade or air-conditioning when possible. With the cooling trend and the possibility of light rain, the community can look forward to a more comfortable and pleasant start to the work week.
