Hate-related graffiti was removed from Michael’s Catholic Church and Boulder Creek Community Church shortly after it was discovered on Monday, March 12. The number 666 as well as Nazi related writings were sprayed on the walls and doors. Heinous words of hate were scrawled everywhere, according to one witness. This type of marking is considered a hate crime and is classified as a felony.
Detectives and deputies worked on the case same-day and obtained surveillance video showing Rollin Easley buying white spray paint in Boulder Creek. Deputies searched Easley’s home and found further evidence. Easley was arrested and booked into county jail on two counts of felony vandalism.
Machado Brothers Painting and Kevin Foster helped clean up the mess. Leslie Willoughby of Boulder Creek commented on the post on Nextdoor, “It’s hard to read this news, but valuable to know what happens in our community. Hate we must guard against in words and actions.” Mary Beth Patterson wrote, “At the Saturday Vigil Mass Fr. Bob spoke only of forgiveness for the perpetrator. We must find forgiveness in our hearts. That is the Christian thing to do!! Thanks to all who helped with the quick clean up. This is such a loving community!”
