Since cannabis has been legalized here in California, many of us may be asking ourselves if there really are health benefits to it, or did it just get legalized because a bunch of  people just want to get a high. Well, this may come as a surprise to some people, but there are myriads of benefits to cannabis. This plant has unfortunately had so much controversy in the past that it makes it hard for some people to look past the stigma, but now people really have come to realize the importance of this plant in health, and the word is out.

Our bodies have receptor sites specific to the compounds in this plant called cannabinoid receptor sites. The chemical compounds in these plants are able to bind to these sites in our bodies and exert powerful results helping us from everything from immune system to digestion and mood. What cannabis does in the body is help us to restore balance to the system. We even have receptor sites on our nerves, helping us resolve or minimize nerve pain and nervous system disorders like MS, Parkinson’s, and epilepsy.

Now that collectives are open to everyone over 21, many of us can go in there to ask questions and to find the best remedy for a particular situation. The staff at our local collectives are usually well educated in cannabis and can lead you in a good direction. Enjoy your health journey and be open minded to the new evidence coming out all the time, and of course use prudence.
