Astrology – January 2021

By Mr. Astrology

Known as “the great conjunction,” the recurring conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn that occurs every twenty years has been the prime mechanism of demarcating historical eras in traditional astrology. Jupiter and Saturn will form their next conjunction on December 21st, 2020 at 10:20 AM (PST) in the first degree of Aquarius. While Jupiter represents benevolence and fortuitous circumstances, it can also bring overindulgence and pretension necessitating the reflective focus of Saturn to curtail the extravagance and reinforce what is ready to blossom forth. At the same time, we require the uplifting revitalization of Jupiter to reconcile the negative aspects of Saturn that can bring about dispiriting stagnation. In 2021, we will see both the integrative development of Jupiter and the systematic constructiveness of Saturn working together in harmony.

Jupiter and Saturn have a pattern of forming their conjunctions in the same element of astrology for approximately two hundred years. From the 15th through 17th centuries, they occurred exclusively in water signs, and from the 17th through 19th centuries they occurred in fire signs. Since 1802, the great conjunctions of Jupiter and Saturn have taken place in earth signs, with the last one occurring on May 28, 2000, in Taurus. After the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius in 2020, there will continue to only be conjunctions between Jupiter and Saturn in tropical air signs until 2159.

While the earth element indicates a focus on material security and concentration of resources that is reticent to change, the era of air will bring disruption to traditional structures and powerful changes in the way we communicate, and to our commonly held beliefs.  There will be unique challenges and unexplored potential emerging as we begin a new era of Jupiter and Saturn that we will incorporate into our lives as we examine what to release, and what we sincerely wish to bring with us into the future. Have a great month, and always remember: keep looking to the stars!
