Staying Healthy During Quarantine

This is a special time we’ve been given to take care of ourselves, and to become the people we were meant to be. We all have unique interests and creativity, and now is the time to develop and explore them. It’s time to enjoy the simple things in life, as well as to draw close to our loved ones and those in our households.

Exercise is super important to keep those endorphins up, and a simple walk is very therapeutic. It’s important to get sun in the morning to increase our vitamin D levels and our overall mood. Gardening is also very therapeutic; and starting a compost pile is a good idea that not only helps the environment by preventing food scraps from ending up in the landfill and increasing greenhouse gases, but it also gives life to the plants you already have, and you can water less because it helps retain moisture around your plants.

I have found that making lists the night before really helps me to stay focused and active during the day. If you find you need help with your creativity, mood, and energy, I have found cannabis to be therapeutic in all those areas. There’s a reason we have cannabinoid receptor sites throughout our bodies: It’s because cannabis helps us in so many different ways. Even though it has been given a bad reputation by some, it is far safer than most traditional over-the-counter pharmaceuticals and opioids. Our local dispensary is still open, and they have the knowledge and expertise to point you in the right direction.

I would still recommend taking your antioxidants, and natural antivirals like elderberry, zinc, vitamin C and A, plus garlic. Drinking green tea is a good idea too, since it’s full of antioxidants and has natural antiviral components in it. Staying away from refined sugars, heavy alcohol consumption, cigarettes, and highly processed foods is important for your immune systems. This is the time for healthy home-cooked meals with spices to stimulate your metabolism, digestion, and immune systems. Fermented foods are also important for those benefits as well.

Stay well, stay strong, stay positive. We will get through this. It’s important to take one day at a time, to show gratitude, and to count your blessings.
